Education Policy Requirements: Part 1 Student Management
School and higher education policy is always planned by the
central government. Even now a new education policy has been implemented, just
formality it to say. But let's not discuss it in today's article. As an example
the money allocated in the budget does not reach the end person, the
implementation of the education policy does not reach to all the students.
Today I will not criticize any matter, who is responsible for this situation?
But we will talk about what is essential for the development of the students.
In my thirty years of experiences, I would say that, if there is
one responsible factor behind the development of students is, their educational institution. That is institutional head and their teachers. Usually the head of the
educational institution is the Principal. The Principal should always be like a
bouquet; i.e. versatile talented. It should have properties like education,
research, administration, finance, arts, language, friendship and humanity.
The organization should be a treasure trove of sound policies. And there should
be arrangements for its implementation. Most of the Principals does not have the coordination of the above mentioned features so he
becomes dependent on the teachers of his institution instead of guiding them.
Student management:
The teacher is the king of the class. But class discipline
is part of institutional policy. Of course, the teacher's knowledge is very
important in maintaining the discipline. Teachers or Professors of any subject
other than language should not need a book in the classroom unless for a
reference. The classroom activities require the careful supervision of the institutional head. There is also the issue of discipline to the teacher, when
the teacher is deprived of knowledge loses his influence on the students. Then the possibility of indiscipline arises in
the students. Here standard of punishment should be a part of the policy.
We are always impressed by the names of Harvard, MIT, Cambridge or
Oxford. But we have never analyzed these universities. The greatness of all
these universities are their policies and strict implementation of it. Student's oriented policy is never compromised. While in the beginning
there is no significant difference in the level of teachers of these Universities and others, but the
environment of the institution and the implementation of the policy makes them great teachers and students. Now the days LMS [i.e. learning management
system] plays a very significant role in maintaining the academic discipline of
the student. There is still almost lack of interest towards LMS in many
institutions or universities except a few private universities. The head of the
institution should always be tech-savvy. It should be aware of LMS it selves
and bring in all to the teachers. LMS type of software enables students’ active
and regular.
Other activities have also accelerated due to NAAC, State and National Sports encouragement such as Khel Mahakumbh and Kala Mahakumbh in Gujarat and India. Due to which, students and parents are become aware. Otherwise, we have never heard of Gujarat shining at the national level in the field of sports. The institutional head should have ability to maintain a balance between academic, co-educational and other activities.
The institutional head should consult with his intellectual teachers time
to time and discuses on the policy of the institution and make positive changes
in it. So the teachers remain loyal to the institutional policy so as to
motivate themselves and the students to follow.
The most sensitive component for the institution is the mindset of the student. According to the world famous psychologist Freud, the youth class passes through five stages. During my study of psychology and through my experience, I learned that adolescence is a stage of supremacy in addition to Freud's five sexual stages. At this stage every healthy youth resorted to good narcissistic measures to prove themselves as the best.
At the End: complex policy is the source of immorality.
In Part 2 will talk about economic policy
In Part 3 will discuss about Curriculum Policy
